If this is the same Loma Gilck, aka Loma Macabee, that taught at Pauline Johnson in the early '70's, the she is the absolute best teacher in the world. I owe this woman so much for all she taught me and all those memories she gave me. I had the biggest crush on Miss Gilck. I still do. No one in the world treated me as well as she did. I still don't play chess well. I am proud and honoured to be the student standing beside her in my grade 5 class photo. It's a privilege to be the first to rate her as a teacher on this site. Thanks for everything, Miss Gilck. Mmmmm . . . . . . the green Mustang!!! I am your ever faithful page turner - and hardly timid! I write this now because my 8 year old son just lost the teacher with whom he had a big crush. She drowned in a horrific and tragic car accident just before Christmas. I haven't stopped thinking about it, Miss Gilck, and the importance and significance of a school by crush on the teacher. If you're reading this, Miss Gilck, please try to contact me.

Former Grade 5 student
I had Loma Gilck as my Grade 5 teacher at Pauline Johnson School, West Vancouver, BC in 1975. She was the best teacher I ever had in my elementary and high school years. She was so pretty, and dressed so well too. I grew alot in her classroom too and remember that very vividly. I cried when I had to leave her class and go into Grade 6. She engaged students well especially in art, music (we had an awesome choir), reading, math, and I loved the fact that she made a point of celebrating the holidays with class parties and stuff....she made the class fun, and creative, but challenging too....I wondered whatever happened to her. Thank you, Miss Gilck (as she was known back then) for everything - you made my childhood so much better!
