Respectfully, Mr. D.(elbert) Marlatt could be ***somewhat*** of a 'petty tyrant'. The first class he 'maps' the seating arrangement, or, rather, has the class fill in their 'spot' in the classroom on one 'master' piece of 'foolscap'. Henceforth, the seating arrangement is 'written in stone'. He raises drastically in a detrimental way the cortisol (or the like) level of the sentient beings in his 'class'. He makes 'use' of particular individuals to endeavor to 'unify' his 'class', trying to keep his own head above metaphoric water. Ultimately, Mr. D.(elbert) Marlatt is a 'bully' of the sidewalk kind. Pretending to 'threaten' his students with a wooden metre stick, in this perspective, is poor, repeat, poor drama. Trying to 'stare down' his students in his inimitable 'style' is something fit for, perhaps, the student reserve. Saying a well intentioned, well mannered friendly 'hello' during the first few fortnights during the autumn 'term' in the the school corridors to Mr. D.(elbert) Marlatt is greeted with a glacial stare worthy of somewhat possible the likes of 'Mussolini'. How many psychiatrists does it take to soften Mr. D.(elbert)' Marlatt's 'heart'... How many psychiatrists' coercive pharmaceutical regimens may it take to 'normalize' Mr. D.(elbert) Marlatt... To Mr. D.(elbert) Marlatt's credit he taught, truly, really well the quadratic equation, and, logarithms, along with imaginary numbers as well. Notwithstanding any/all of the above, Mr. D.(elbert) has a sense of humour. He signs the yearbook admitting, conceding, practically, repeat, practically, confessing, certainly without being under duress, in ink, 'You have taken a lot of abuse--All in fun'. Personally, I believe Mr. D.(elbert) Marlatt could proactively apologize to me AND put a 'human face' on it. Personally, I believe Mr. D.(elbert) Marlatt is, notwithstanding any/all of the above, a nice, and decent, and good man. Hope Springs Eternal. Best regards 'Del' :-) I.H.S.
