Ms. Richards was my grade 6 teacher and before and after that year I'd never had a teacher that was worse. I constantly went home and would breakdown and cry to my mother about her. I constantly felt harrassed by her as she would pick out some aspects of myself that I did not like and pick on me in front of the class. If I was ever to ask for help there was always a way for her to mock me in the situation which resulted in me not being able to ask her about anything we were taught. Not to mention, once I moved on to grade 7 Ms. Richards proceeded to go and tell my new teacher about how terrible of a student I was. (never participating, being rude, giving attitude, etc.) Thankfully my 7th grade teacher told my mom about what she said about me. I remember a situation when I was in art class and Ms. Richards joined out class for the period. As I was sitting at my desk doing the work assigned to us and having a small conversation on the side Ms. Richards came and sat beside me. I was annoyed but continued what I was doing because I did not want to be disrespectful by asking her to move. After about 10 minutes of her sitting there she asked me why I was talking instead of doing my work. I showed her my work and pointed out that there were 4 other tables full of people not doing anything but talking, she told me to stop talking and that she'd be sitting with me for the remainder of the class. I decided to call her out and say that I didn't want her to sit next to me because she'd always been negative when it came to me and I didn't need her negativity. Ms. Richards became mad very quickly and began raising her voice, saying stuff like "oh, I'm the negative one? Look who's talking." and "You're the most negative person I've ever met." The next year she left and I did a lot that year because she wasn't there to constantly tell teachers that I was a terrible student or that I didn't have the mindset to learn. She made me think differently about myself, I hated my appearance because she would make fun of my hair, weight, etc. I had terrible anxiety and became more quiet because even if there was a roomful of people talking she would always call me out. I spent the next 3 years of middle school thinking I was stupid because when I would ask Ms. Richards for help she would constantly point at that "Everybody else can understand the material, why can't you?" Ms. Richards is the perfect example of a terrible teacher.
