Khalsa School provides good environment for the Sikh kids. However they are very dictatorial in their stances. As an example, Rina Kaur Chawla, the Principal for their Vancouver branch and earlier a teacher for their Surrey branch was terminated in 2008. No reasons were given for her termination. She was a very dedicated and an able teacher and administrator. The School admission in her tenure increased from 180 to 300. Students and parents were very happy with her. On her termination, the parents in their role of parent advisory board asked and requested the management of the school to re-instate her. But the management of this school never accepted the parent's advice. Highly dictatorial board. Mrs Chawla was highly humiliated by the management of this school. To my understanding, Mrs Chawla's termination came from jealousies and sycophancy in the board circles. She is/ was a capable administrator and her un-ceremonious farewell reflects the unprofessional demeanor of the Khalsa School Board. The School, however is good for Sikh children to study as they learn about their religion and language.
