I didn't care for her at all as a teacher. She would always try to be cool with the "athletic" kids and favour them. She would single out others (such as myself) and give them a hard time. She was also very strict. She didn't like the way I held my pencil so she would always yell at me to correct it or get the Resource Assistants to keep an eye on how I was holding my pencil, and if they saw me holding it the other way they would come over and pester me about it. Mrs. O'Brien also assigned way too much homework. I was 10 years old, in grade five and she would send us all home with a 20 pound bag of homework each night. Her reasoning was that she was "preparing us for highschool/university". I also forgot to bring my one assignment home and wasn't able to complete it for the day it was due. She called my mom to come to my school and made her and myself sign a contract stating that I would complete my homework from now on. Her teaching is mostly note based. She writes out pages and pages of notes on the bord and the students try to keep up in writing them down. I didn't like this. I didn't find this way of teaching very engaging or enjoyable. It also didn't leave very much time to get a lot of the homework she assigned done in class (and believe me she would assign a lot of it).
