She is utterly disrespectful to students, she has no patience which is a required asset for a teacher. She constantly raises her voice at students whenever her HIGH expectations aren't met. She constantly makes her students answer questions and when nobody is able to answer the question she lashes out at her students for not knowing about a topic she hasn't taught before. She does not help students during tests and scolds you for not understanding a certain topic she taught. She is disrespectful not only to her students but to her colleagues as well with the way she communicates with them. Even if you make the smallest mistake in class she would use you as an example of what not to do and embarrass you in front of the class. She constantly expects the students to read the textbook daily and wants students to self teach rather than her teaching. If you had the misfortune of disagreeing with her about an answer or opinion, even in the kindest way, she would take it as you being disrespectful and scream at you. Her style of communication is horrible, she is never clear with instructions about labs or assessments and will lash out at anyone who asks for clarification. She constantly belittles students to feed her big and fragile ego. She is not a good teacher and has no business teaching, she has no patients, no respect, and no ambition when it comes to teaching.

Dr. Reid is undeniably unqualified to be a teacher, both as an educator and as a person. Rather than creating an environment where students feel supported and encouraged, she constantly seeks pity, making statements like, "Teachers have feelings too" and "I am only human," yet never fails to belittle and berate her students any chance she gets. Her lack of clear guidance on assessments and projects leaves the class confused, and when we inevitably struggle, she yells rather than providing guidance. She has a particular disdain for students who take summer courses, claiming they aren’t learning anything, but ironically, those students probably get a better education in summer or night school than we do in her class. To her credit, Dr. Reid is undeniably knowledgeable in her field, but that knowledge is buried under her inability to effectively teach it. Half of her lectures are spent yelling at students, and her classroom environment fosters fear rather than open dialogue. No one feels comfortable speaking up or asking questions because of the oppressive atmosphere she creates. If you thought the other reviews were exaggerated, they are not. If you have her as a teacher, the only advice I have for you is to try to fall under the category of the few students she clearly favourites.

Honestly, if you have her as a teacher, I would say drop out particularly if you are in the IB program. We are approaching IB exams in less than 2 weeks and we have yet to finish the content. This is largely due to the fact that she consistently keeps failing the class with her ridiculously unrelated tests. As a result, she says shes "giving us the opportunity" to retake it to which we all fail again. This process happens over and over and has severely hindered our ability to finish the content needed for exams. She consistently berates students for their lack of preparation in class because if you didn't study 3 chapters in advance, you are apparently unprepared for the lesson. She takes lessons off the internet and claims that she made them or that the resources are from her "dear friends". Yesterday, she was absent for the day without informing us, yet, when we are absent she demands that we send an email. That isn't the issue, the issue however is if more than half the class is away STUDYING FOR EXAMS, she is upset that we didn't show up for her own exam less than 2 weeks before the IB exam. Now she's punishing us by weighing this, predictably impossibly difficult test, double than it was originally intended to be. While this isn't as important as our midterms are in, she consistently uses these fear mongering tactics to scare her students into following her demands. Every teacher in all of our courses are well finished with content and have finished all assessments knowing we need time to do mock papers which she simply can not comprehend. Every day, she demands that you tell her "good morning" and asks questions that only a medical student might know. In class, she also has a habit of calling on people spontaneously and god forbid you don't have the answer she's looking for. Our class only has 6 guys of which she favours generously over the girls. She has lost all credibility in my eyes, bragging about her irrelevant research. I have learned the entirety of HL biology using online resources myself as her lessons spread in all directions and do not provide important nor useful insight. If she doesn't retire when you are in the IB program, I highly recommend you either transfer schools or choose not to take biology as an IB subject.
