Just glad my kid isn't in that class anymore. Last year that teacher was having a complete mental breakdown in front of the students and she took it out on the students. Not sure what exactly they learned from "Put your heads on your desk" every single day. My kid is only 8 and even she could smell the booze on her breath. This has to be the worst teacher to look after, let alone shape young minds.

The last commenter wasn't kidding about the booze being a problem. When I ask my kid how school was she's often got the same story. Ms. Shannon had a headache and had her head down or on her phone taking Tylenol (I hope) so we had a "Quiet Day" (The kids read at their desks and are punished if they talk. This is where my tax dollars are going? FYI she isn't at Blessed anymore. She's torturing kids at St. Mary's Catholic School in Toronto. Get your kid out of this class ASAP.

Contrary to these overexaggerated reviews, I had a very positive experience! I had the pleasure of working with Shannon as my Assistant Teacher during my OISE placement years ago and I'm still inspired by my time with her. Yes, she is firm and structured but caring. I have seen her pour time and energy into the most challenging students I've seen. She knows her students personally and she is very knowledgeable and innovative. She is the math teacher I've observed hands down and across subjects, she delivers content in engaging and creative ways for the kids. In fact, her emphasis on structure and her wisdom inspired me to stay in the profession when I was ready to quit. Amazing teachers tend to burn out, especially in tough Toronto schools that have high needs and no resources!! Shannon is a phenomenal educator and as a teacher myself, it sounds like the education system deserves a poor rating, not Shannon.
